History of Elmo Insurance

Elmo Insurance Agency Limited was formed in 1981 following the merging of interests between the General Agencies of the Sun Insurance Office Ltd, the London Assurance and the Alliance Assurance Co. Ltd. C&H Bartoli Limited and Cassar & Cooper Holdings Limited have represented the companies comprising the Sun Alliance & London for many years – in fact, the first appointment dates back to 1939.

When Royal International Insurance Holdings Ltd was merged with Sun Alliance & London Insurance plc, Elmo Insurance Agency Ltd became their General Agent in Malta. However, because of global strategic reasons, Royal & Sun Alliance (RSA) decided to withdraw from Malta and their portfolio of insurance risks was successfully transferred to Elmo Insurance Limited on the 1st May, 2004.

We offer a wide range of general insurance business and health insurance products from our Head Office in Ta' Xbiex and throughout our well-supported Branch and Tied Insurance Intermediry network around Malta and Gozo. In addition, we have strong partnerships with Insurance Brokers based in Malta, Swiss Re and other global reinsurers and with RSA Gloobal, Allianz Global and QBE Global.
